Hanami means 'flower viewing' in Japanese. When Cherry blossom are in full bloom, picnic parties are held under the trees, traditionally as a way to celebrate the coming of spring and also a good excuse to have a party and a drink or two.

Day 1 Tokyo - Sunday 25th March 2012
Arrive at Narita Airport in Tokyo, you are met by your tour assistant and transferred to your hotel for a 3 night stay at Tokyo Grand Palace hotel or similar. The rest of the day is at your leisure to adjust to the 9 hours time difference.

Day 2 Tokyo
Full day tour of Tokyo with English speaking assistant. We travel using public transport using the 1 day travel pass (provided) and visit the best areas in Tokyo to view the beautiful Cherry Blossom. Our tour takes you to Mori Garden at Roppongi Hills and then on to Imperial Palace Plaza. We have the opportunity (weather permitting) to have a picnic and enjoy a couple of beers and snacks 'Hanami' whilst enjoying the cherry blossom at Ueno Onshi Park.

Day 3 Tokyo
Free day to explore Tokyo on your own, or purchase an optional tour (ask for details at time of booking):

Option 1: Full day tour to Mt Fuji, Lake Ashi Boat cruise, Hakone, Owakudani Boiling Valley, Bullet train. (inc lunch)

Option 2: Full day tour to Nikko National park and the Kegon waterfall (inc lunch).

Day 4 Tokyo - Kyoto
In the morning walk from your hotel to Suidobashi Station and self transfer to Tokyo train Station. Leave Tokyo station by JR Super express bullet train (ticket included). Upon arrival at Kyoto station self transfer to your hotel, the Kyoto Tower Hotel or similar. Rest of day free at leisure.

*Baggage will be sent overland separately between from Tokyo directly to Kyoto due to luggage restrictions on bullet train. Leave your large baggage in the designated area in hotel lobby for collection (1 bag per person).

Day 5 Kyoto

Free day to explore Kyoto on your own.

Alternatively take an Optional full day sightseeing tour of Kyoto with English speaking assistant using public transport (Kyoto 1 day travel pass provided). Our tour will include Philosophers walk, Heian Jingu Shrine and Gion area. We have the opportunity (weather permitting) to have a picnic and enjoy a couple of beers and snacks 'Hanami' whilst enjoying the cherry blossom near Kamogawa River.

Day 6 Kyoto

Free day to explore Kyoto, or purchase an optional tour (ask for details at time of booking):

Option 1: Kyoto morning tour - Kinkakuji temple (Golden Pavilion), Nijo Castle, residence of the Tokugawa Shogun, Kyoto Imperial Palace, Kyoto Handicraft Center

Option 2: Nara Afternoon tour - Todaiji Temple, Kasuga Shinto Shrine, Nara Deer Park

Day 7 Kyoto - Osaka - Homeward (30th March 2012)
Leave your hotel by Airport coach to the futuristic Kansai International Airport in Osaka for your departure flight homeward.
