Note to ensure you have a smooth trip and due to luggage restrictions on bullet trains we offer a free 1 item per person luggage transfer from hotel to hotel between Tokyo & Takayama, Takayama to Kyoto & Kyoto to Hiroshima. This fantastic tour includes your own Private Guide except days 2, 8 & 14.

Day 1
Depart from Heathrow or your preferred airport for a scheduled flight to Tokyo. Meals on board.

Day 2 Tokyo
Arrive at Narita Airport in Tokyo, you are met by your tour assistant and transferred to your hotel by airport limousine bus for a 2 nights stay in Tokyo. The rest day is at your leisure to adjust to the 9 hours time difference.

Day 3 Tokyo
Today you will have a guided sightseeing tour of Tokyo (9.00-17.00pm) using public transport (admission fees and transport price included when with your guide).To provide you with ultimate flexibility you can choose your own itinerary. See suggestions below;

Sample 1: Tokyo Down town: Tokyo National museum, Ameyoko Market, Asakusa Kannon Temple, Sumida River Cruise, Hamarikyu garden and tea break, Ginza shopping street.

Sample 2: Tokyo Center West: Meiji Shrine, Shopping in Omotesando, Ote Ukiyoe Museum, Observatory of Tokyo Government museum, Kabuki-Cho Area.

Sample 3: Old Edo & Tokyo bay area: Edo Tokyo Museum, Imperial palace plaza, Tokyo bay area, Yurikamome Ride.

Additional options (may require extra fee): Ghibli museum, Kabuki, Roppongi hill observatory, Shinagawa Aquarium, Tea Ceremony at Happoen Garden, Tokyo bay cruise, Tokyo Disney resort

Day 4 Tokyo - MT Fuji - Hakone
Today your guide will meet you at your hotel and will accompany you in your transfer to picturesque Hakone National Park. The transfer will be by public transport and weather permitting you will enjoy panoramic views of Mt Fuji.

Deluxe hotel upgrade will include dinner and breakfast in Hakone, whilst staying in a Ryokan with private open air spa bath facilities.

Day 5 Hakone - Takayama

This morning you shall be picked up by car from your hotel and driven to Odawara train station to board the bullet train to Nagano where you will meet your guide. Your guide will then accompany you for the remaining express train trip to Takayama. (travel time approx 260min)

On arrival in Takayama your guide will provide a tour of the area utilising public transport.

Day 6 Takayama - Shirakawago - Kanazawa

We start todays tour by taking a local bus to Shirakawago with your guide. (travel time approx 120min). Shirakawago has World Heritage designation and is truly a spectacular experience, which many believe is the 'hidden treasure' in Japan. Visiting Shirakawago is like stepping back in time, with uniquely crafted traditional wooden farmhouses (Gassho-Zukuri) set in a beautiful mountainous landscape.

After the tour we transfer to Kanazawa by local bus with your guide. (travel time approx 90min).

Day 7 Kanazawa

Site seeing tour of Kanazawa using public transport includes a visit to the Kenrokuen Garden, which is regarded as one of the three most beautiful garden in Japan. and a stroll through the Nagamachi Samurai house district, Omicho market, Chaya-machi and Kaga Yuuzenn Products Hall.

Day 8 Kanazawa - Kyoto
Unassisted transfer by yourself to Kyoto by express train (travel time approx 120min). Accommodation at the New Miyako hotel or similar. Rest of day free at leisure.

Day 9 Kyoto
Guided sightseeing tour of Kyoto (9.00-17.00) using public transport (admission fees and transport price included when with your guide). To provide you with ultimate flexibility you can choose your own itinerary. See suggestions below;

Sample 1: Kyoto main: Golden pavilion, Ryoanji, Kiyomizu Temple, Gion Area.

Sample 2: Saano Arashiyama: Togetsukyo, Tenryuji temple, Zyojakoin temple, Arashiyama area.

Sample 3: Uji Fushimi: Byodoin Temple, Tea ceremony, Fushimi Inari Shrine, Sake Warehouse.

Additional options (may require extra fee): Tea Ceremony at Geisha house, Toei Uzumasa movie land, Yuzen Dyeing.

Day 10 Kyoto - Mt Koya (Dinner)
Transfer to Mt Koya with your guide by express train (travel time approx 160min). Sightseeing tour of Mt Koya will be utilise public transport.

Mount Koya is home to over 117 temples and is where we stay overnight in 'Japanese style' accommodation at the magnificent Temple for the Shingon Esoteric sect of Buddhism, which is still in use by monks today. The peaceful temple is set in beautiful wooded mountainous countryside, 1000m above sea level and is ideal to relax, meditate and learn more of buddhist monk rituals (include: Vegetarian 'monk style' Dinner at Temple).

Day 11 Mt Koya - Himeji - Miyajima (breakfast & Dinner)
Together with your guide we leave Mt Koya to Himeji via Osako. This exciting transfer includes taking a cable car and bullet train to Himeji, where we will visit the impressive Himeji castle. Later we transfer to Miyajima by bullet train and local ferry to Miyajima. All fully accompanied with you guide to assist in transfers. Traditional Dinner tonight will be at you Ryokan (Japanese style inn) accommodation in Miyajima.

Day 12 Miyajima - Hiroshima - Miyajima (breakfast & Dinner)
After breakfast we take a guided site seeing tour of Hiroshima and Miyajima using public transport. Our tour will include visiting Itsukushima Shrine, Hiroshima peace memorial museum. Dinner will be at your Ryokan accommodation.

Day 13 Miyajima - Hiroshima - Miyajima (breakfast)
After breakfast we transfer by ferry and car to Hiroshima station to board the bullet train to Osaka with your guide. On arrival in Osaka we take a guided sightseeing tour including visiting Osaka castle using public transport.

Day 14 Osaka to UK
Take airport limousine bus from hotel to the futuristic Kansai International Airport in Osaka for departure to UK.
(travel time approx 50min).

Mt. Koya . A once in a life time experience to stay in a Buddhist Temple on the sacred MT Koya. You will stay as guests of the monks from the Shingon sect of Buddhism, founded by the Great Kukai, who established an ashram at MT Koya 1,200 years ago.
